...if any of you out there is ready to download both of them in their entirety, and burn them on a CD for me, I'd be more than grateful - I just don't have time at the moment.

That's a phenomenal find, Fab. Awesome.

I don't see a way to download them--right-clicking isn't working for me, and I didn't see the German word "Download" anywhere. If you can give me a good idea of how-to, I'll burn you that CD.

I started getting them, and that's how I did :

Click on the 'miniaturansicht' button

click on a page thumbnail

display the source code

copy the source code of the image, and paste it as an URL in your browser.

Then add 1 for the next image.....

Time consuming.......

EDIT : gah ! they corrected the thing !!

I have no idea now...perhaps order the images directly from them.

The latin is not that hard to translate. But the sheer volume of the book gets me all tired in advance.

Ok here is the quick and easy way to get many online manuscripts. It uses a program which I suspect was developed to download porn galleries.

go to
http://www.urltoys.com/
and get the installer (left hand side column).
Install and follow instructions.

What you will need to do is find out the range in the series of images. Then create a .flux file in notepad. Make sure you select 'all files' so it doesn't save it as a .txt file. The command line in the .flux file should be something like-

flux http://thisistheurl/whateverdirectoriestheimagesarein/[imagestart-imagefinish].jpg
What goes in the brackets is only what varies between image files, ie. for these Mair manuals it is [00001-00626] and not [bsb00006570_00001-bsb00006570_00626] which are the full filenames for the images.

the command line for these Mair manuscripts are-

fusk http://mdz10.bib-bvb.de/~db/bsb00006570 ... b00006570_[00001-00626].jpg

fusk http://mdz10.bib-bvb.de/~db/bsb00007894 ... b00007894_[00001-00616].jpg

So install the url tools, create a .flux file for each of those command lines, then double click on those .flux files and then click go and it will start downloading.
A word of warning though- some online manuals can be very very large. Note these flux files are also for the 150% versions of the Mair, so you can take out the /150/ if you want the smaller version.

Here is the flux command for Lecküchner.

fusk http://mdz10.bib-bvb.de/~db/bsb00002184 ... b00002184_[00001-00438].jpg

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

BTW. I am not sure why this is so, but you have to look at at least one image normally (of the set you want to download) before this will work.

So I had to go too
http://mdz10.bib-bvb.de/~db/bsb00007894 ... index.html
and then click 150% and view it, before my .fusk file would download the set.

Also, as right clicking is disabled, I had to use Fab's trick of going to the miniature section to get the file name ranges.

If this gets disabled later, this library seems to follow a certain pattern, so you can just guess the range and change the url accordingly.

My pleasure, thanks for finding it.

There is also another type of downloader that will help with online manuscripts in this kind of format.

http://image.ox.ac.uk/show?collection=bodleian&manuscript=msbodl264

(if you click on the 'view all' button at the bottom left corner).

It won't be able to do the Mair manual, but is perfect for this type of arrangement (large thumbnail galleries) as it means less f*cking around.

http://www.downthemall.net/

It is a firefox addon, and is pretty easy to follow.
