1075 fire-cement-quenched blade, mild steel handle, brass thingies, and an aluminum spacer. Too bad the temper line looks better IRL - I'll try to get a better pic some day. OAL 182 mm (including brass bit).

The hole at the front was made before I had a drill press, and so is not perfectly perpendicular to the blade (and hence unusable). And for the next I make, I'll try to use stainless for the handle. It still has some scrathces, as it spent some time in my pocket.

More recent stuff :

A pruning knife - I hope the future owner will enjoy it and get it in time to prune his roses

:

3 mm thick at base 1075 steel, clay HT, tempered to yellow in my mom's oven ; handle is cherry, hand carved with a sharpened nail. The knotwork was inspired by (or actually, made while looking at) a cross shaft at Llantwit Major, Wales. OAL 183 mm.

A folder, same steel & HT as before :

Handle is oak. The pics don't do justice to the line, but as this one's not going too far away, I can still try to take better photos some day. 191mm OAL.

Another folder, old 2 mm thick file, full quench, yellow temper over the forge, oak handle :

OAL 222 mm.

A push dagger, for a new and happy daddy :

Unknown 'train' steel, box wood handle, mild steel plates for fittings, veg tanned leather dyed black (with old school methods). Diff quench (only the edges were brought to temp). The usual thing.

No measurments, but I'll ask the new owner.

This past weekend I had a play with various items Fab has made, including a lovely tiny little folder I brought home. Thom, I've seen the handles for your balisong and I must say they bode well for a lovely knife.

Thanks James BTW. If things are not too bad with my knee it might even be finished by the end of the month.

Here are average pics of the latest roundel, I'll try to get better ones soon :

All hand made in the same unknown steel as some other knives I made, differential temper (it would show if you etch the blade), mild steel fittings, oak wood, brass inlays & rivets, fileworked handle edges (will show on other pics) ; scabbard is veg tanned leather all hand-worked and a bit seasoned, and mild steel end.

It will be available at about 280-300 euros.
