Semi-custom Schiavona for sale.

Postby El Malifico » 22 Jul 2006 06:56

I'm in desparate need of money, so I'm doing something really desparate and selling a sword I rather like.. That is, if Matt will let me do this here...

It's an ATrim DD1601 blade (Single hand Irish ring hilt that Lee sells) with a basket on it I got from Mario last year. The basket was fit and a new handle and pommel were made by Adam at Popinjay's.

I think the basket is an Eddie Floyd make, with thumb ring!

Handle is wrapped in blue leather cord.

Handles very nicely, I hazard saying it handles better than it originally did as a ring hilt.. It has Gus' older edges on it.

It even has a half finished fibreglass scabbard... I'll toss in the leather I got to put on it too.

Asking 700 US dollars, if any of you guys over the pond are interested, I'll split the shipping with you. In the US it cost me 25 dollars to send it from Massachusetts to Maine... so I'm asking for 12 dollars toward shipping too in the us...

Why am I selling it? I'm desparate.. And I know there are people here that will take care of it.

If you're interested, shoot me an email at jle2199 at gmail d0t c0m I'll take more pictures if you want and email them to you :)

What a lovely sword! And, yes, the basket was an Eddie Floyd semi-custom piece (he modified an existing hilt design of his for me).

I would prefer the square pommel that is supposed to go on a schiavona, but it's still very pretty and I guess the pommel could be changed easily?

It's an ATrim blade, if you know someone that can make a new pommel, yea, it can be changed.

Long story as to how it ended up with a beakbreaker....

The pommel on it is 7.5oz...

If it's likely to encourage any European buyers - you wouldn't have to pay tax on it, because it's a person-to-person sale... and Jeff can declare it a 'gift', much as your transfer of money to him would be a 'gift'. Completely unrelated gifts of course.

Not really. Dutch customs have an upper limit for gifts. I think it's about E50 or so.

Bloody vultures.

Of course, one way to get around that is to declare the value as E40 or so. But in the event that it gets lost or damaged....
