Advice: Allstar in the UK?

Postby admin » 11 Oct 2012 11:51

Hi guys,
Allstar do some dedicated HEMA stuff now - their masks seem good and are favourably priced compared to Leon Paul (and some people say better than Leon Paul). However, their HEMA stuff is only listed on their German site:
http://www.allstar.de/

The UK site doesn't seem to list the HEMA stuff and the prices look higher to me:

Has anybody in the UK bought Allstar HEMA stuff and if so, waht channel did you go through? I can't help wondering whether the UK Allstar people can get the HEMA stuff ordered in and whether their prices would be the same if so?

I don't know how they work in the UK, but I asked roughly the same question on a French forum, and was told that they only sold their HEMA-specific stuff in Germany. A possibility that was suggested was to arrange something with someone living in Germany... I rather decided that if they were determined not to sell these things I wasn't going to force them and took my business to SPES and PBT for the HEMA specific stuff :) I still got gloves and mask from allstar as their French retailer is located very near from where I live.

Note that most of it is really coaching equipment, aside from the mask cover with backflap and gorget. I think you can get that through the UK shop. I believe their idea is to keep their real-life shops afloat in each country, hence the higher prices.

Yep, I bought one of the head protectors when there were few alternatives. It's a really good bit of kit too. I just emailed sales@allstar-fencing.co.uk and they gave me a price. but it was pretty much pounds for euros plus a fair old whack for shipping, so not cheap.
