Shi yong Dadao shu (Practical sabre manual), 1933

Postby Thearos » 24 Apr 2012 22:26

Just noted a group which seems to have found an 1933 manual for the "dadao", the munition-grade two handed Chinese sword used in the C20th by the military.

They charge for the download, but there are some pics and translations from the manual, which give a sense of the instructions and illustrations. Basic guard seems to be "Vom Tag". I thought this might be interesting.

I'm aware that this isn't quite WMA-- but it seems to me that the period, the type of manual, and the fact that there is a group working on historical documents of this sort, might be of interest to people here.

You might find these interesting. I've mentioned the chinese stuff here a few times, it might be useful, but there doesn't seem to be much of a presence atm.

No language is justly studied merely as an aid to other purposes. It will in fact better serve other purposes, philological or historical, when it is studied for love, for itself"

Mind now changed...
