Forcefield body armour anyone?

i think some of the SoTS guys were using stuff from Forcefield in Apelern, I was thinking about getting some to use under my jacket for steel fighting.

Anyone else got any experience with this stuff?

I thought the SotS fighters used riding armour of some sort.

Most bike armour is fairly similar, I was looking around for awhile before I found what I'm using at the moment, the prices seemed to jump around all over for the same piece of kit, but this was the cheapest I found.. http://azurewear.co.uk/product_info.php ... cts_id=150

Actually, there are a mix of under armour solutions used by SotS students, the guy to whom Axel is referring (Andy) has taken the base Forcefield armour and used the back protector reversed to be a lower torso protector.

Under armour solutions also depend on the weapons used, for sword and buckler it's more about the impact, for rapier, more about the thrust (though both are taken in to account)

Phil and I both use riding vests on some occasions under jackets (which is what Matt is referring to)

I've tried to get this one myself, but the seller seems to only have size XS in stock.

A bit of thread necromancy, but looking back at this thread I thought this forcefield rib protector (worn the other way around as the guy in this picture does) could be interesting for both rapier and steel longsword:

Sort of like a fencing chest protector with better rib cover.

OT...

I wasn't sure what a riding vest was so I went to look it up.

Then I found this on testing vests which is quite interesting.

I ordered the shoulder pad replacements from forcefield which arrived yesterday.

I thought this would give us the chance to test the material* without having to spend too much money. So far so good, they are flexible and adjust to your body shape and appear to distribute the force evenly. They are very light and slightly rubbery, so should not fragment or break with frequent usage. Probably better suited for strikes than thrusts though, but I guess I'll be in a better position to test that if/when I get the torso segment. All I need to do now is make some inside pockets inside the fencing jacket so they stay in place, though since the pads have holes they could be sown into a garment directly as well.

*The test consisted of three of us putting the pad on under a jacket and then someone else striking with a feder with incremental force until we said stop. It felt a bit like being struck by an open hand.

Well, if anyone in the UK is thinking about this armour, you might want to check this out:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Forcefield-Mo ... 3a6d99c70c

It's the full harness, current bid (as of posting this) £90. Considering the asking price for this thing I hope someone goes for it, and then posts a review here.

I would, but wrong size and he only ships to the UK
