Thanks for posting, this is brilliant.

Was the material fustian or pure linen?

Was there any evidence of stiffeners anywhere?

Were there any rust-stains on the inside or other indicaion of contact with mail or iron?

I don't have much to say about that, other than it looks absolutely nothing like I would expect it to and it looks rather impractical, although no doubt I am wrong. It is beautiful though.

Hi Jean,

no stiffeners, just quilting.
The brownish colour on the inside could be rust originating from metal armour like mail.
The material looked like linen. I cannot say more about this issue but I will get in touch with an expert on textiles who had examined the garment.
