Yo- I am definitely coming to training on Tues!!!!!!!!!!! Matt, could you poss bring that mask of mine along- I will need it! also does anyone nearby have anywhere I can potentially crash for the night as I fancy a beer and a catch up post session which will make getting back out to Orpington a little tricky. Would be super grateful....very excited!

No worries mate, the mask has been living in the boot of my car all this time.
I'll try to arrange some special thrashing to celebrate your return.

Just to let everyone know that I managed not to kill anyone during my session and it seemed to go well :) We concentrated on basic attacks a defences but making sure that everyone had it correct. Then afterwards because we haven't done it before I videoed everyone doing a couple of moves (a simple fendente from the right and then a single Volta to the other side with another person defending in Largo). I then went through the video with each person singly whilst Paul and Gav took everyone else through Rabbats. I thought it might be useful for everyone to see what they looked like whilst doing this and also it gave us a way to go through moves to see whether anything needed improving although I'd say that everyone did well :) I'm going to convert the video and let people have copies but also keep it for the moment so in 6 months people can look back on it and see how they did thing previously :)

Thanks for everyones understading throughout the session and hopefully it was useful!

We are concentrating on attacking in Fiore longsword at the moment, looking at how to create openings and use sneaky tricks. We will continue focussing on being offensive over the next couple of weeks.

Class sizes have been average, special thanks to those students who have been regular throughout the mini-ice age.

hello sg1

I will be joining u again tomorrow, for more swordplay.
I was wondering if someone could lend me or sell me a cross guard tomorrow eve, as I don’t have much time to make my own.

Thanks
The Bear

Yeah, shouldn't be a problem to borrow a guard or entire weapon. I don't think they'll be any for sale as guards are always in high demand! See you tomorrow mate.

Training is off tonight, because I've spent the night puking my guts up... and I can't get the hall key to anybody.
Could you please help spread the word, because it's going to be difficult for me to get the news to everyone at such short notice.
Cheers!

This week we focused on spears. First looking at the basic play and counter of Fiore, and then looking at other options from other sources.
Sparring included longsword, spear, sword and buckler and backsword.
