That's what we need please. A big padded glove or mitten, with a stiff cuff articulated to the flexible padding. The Victorians used basically the same solution as in Kendo and Naginata, but more padded for harder/tougher weapon simulators.

The helmets are a bit interesting too, with the spring bars that protect the top and sides. Looks like you could easily get stuck with a thrust, but other than that, I bet it would help quite a bit against impact.
Some form of dual layered helmets would be nice with polearms especially.

very true...maybe these folks (http://www.paddedarmour.com/) might consider making them for us. They might even be able to sell them to victorian reenactors as well.
