Yes thursday is fine, at least after six or something in the evening. If you arrive earlier give me a call and we'll meet up before that.

You should receive a confirmation on your payment, if have not received any yet it is probably on its way.

Anders made sure Swordfish features in a big Swedish martial arts magazine, "Fighters Magazine", the article can be found here (in Swedish): http://www.fightermag.se/news.asp?news_id=5939

I think the guy who wrote the article is a coach in an mma club I practiced with briefly last year.

Also, keep an eye on the "news" section on the swordfish web page (as always). I have put up the list of challenges to be fought there.

It would be fun to have the challenges in conjunction with the tournament, especially those that features judges for the tournament!

Right know we don't know how long time the tournaments will take though (we don't want to go on too late in the evening as we have a lecture scheduled), so those of you who are to fight a challenge, go ahead and do it at whatever time suits you, if you want to do it in conjunction to the tournament (more people watching, more glory), let us know beforehand.

I am just guessing that that your swedish isn't quite up to par, so apart from your name you have no idea what they write about you

Judging from how Nigel the tooth filling fared when he issued his challenge to Andreas and Elin, Google translator isn't the way to go either :D .

(it says that bartitsu will now be taught for the first time in Sweden by self defence instructor James Marwood)

And then it says that Nigel the toothfilling will be executed at Sunday morning for violating the Swedish langage. He will be tortured witha a shin bone, shot, hanged and tickled. Not necessarily in that order. His body will be separated by horses and sent to four corners of the country, where they will hang for display during two weeks, before being burnt. The ashes will then be sent to Sellafield.

I am assuming that I am fully paid up and signed up for all of the classes I wanted to attend at Swordfish?
I am furthermore assuming that you were simply being coy in not confirming this for me.

On a slightly seperate topic, I am going to be arriving in Gothenburg at 11.45 on Thursday morning courtesy of those nice people at Ryanair - no I did not book it this early out of choice. Any suggestions as to where to get lunch and hang out, preferably without having to cart around a couple of large bags of WMA stuff, would be appreciated.

Hi Tim,

this is a good question, I was wondering the same thing. We arrive to Göteborg around twoish so I figured i'd leave the gear at the left luggage or lockers at the train station and pooter around the city centre for a bit, grab some nosh, have a pint etc.

So, Gothenburgers....what's cool to do in the city if you've got some hours to kill ?

Kevin.

Hi Tim!

we are checking up on your payment, I can't think there is any problem so the confirmation should be on its way, the guy responsible for it s short on time probably.

Are you arriving at Landvetter Airport? I will be meeting up with Scott Brown who lands there at 11.20, we can just wait for you and you can leave your baggage in my apartment until we go to Aktiviteten and Swordfish (I think we'll have the place from 15.00 or 16.00, so we won't have to wait too long.

Kev, same for you guys, if you arrive at two you can go more or less directly to Aktiviteten, or you can give me a call and meet up with me before going there.

If you're going by ryan air it's gothenburg city airport.

None the less, stash youre gear at central station, or get youre stuff ower to aktiviteten.
We have a fair bit of museums that just might come interesting, then there are the palate of cafey.
the real question is what kind of food would you fancy? there are all sorts of restaurants, but I guess you'd be heading towards a pint.. the dubliners at Kungsportsplattsen (nearly there at least) should suffice for the normal.. they speak fluent english of course, so that might just be the place to start.
Fighting with the sword is not for the weak of heart.
are you strong enough?

Many thanks for the replies Magnus and Axel.
As things stand, I am leaning toward taking my stuff up Aktivititen and then coming back into town in order to take in the sights. I can see there being quite a sword gathering at that Irish pub on Thursday afternoon . . . .
Incidentally, I am pretty certain I am landing at the City airport.

See you soon, Tim

We can't accept any more participants to the tournaments now.

Both the shinai and the nylon tournaments will be knockout tournaments, both are featuring 16 fighters.

I put my name down but I'll have to scrounge kit (1h shinai, buckler, hand protection).
If someone who does have their own gear for the shinai competition wants to join then please feel free to chuck me out to make room.

OK, we did some counting in how much time we have and decided to have groups in the nylon tournament.

The shinai tournament is a straight knockout tournament, so stay on your toes!

The nylon tournament will feature 4 groups of 4 participants in each, the winner and runner up goes on to quarter, semi and finals.

We have groups in the nylon tournaments as we have two "rings" for the nylon tournament but only one for shinai, and also in order to try out different forms of competition.
