I really need to stop reading Bernard Cornwell's books...

Now i want a longbow, as well as viking spear, sword, shield etc. a baker rifle and a 1796....

Just found out, that Ed, the In-House instructor has also made an 87# @ 28" longbow that he's bringing in for me to try out tomorrow night. Should be really interesting to shoot it at a 20 yard target...

Anyway, I'll bring my camera phone and take some pics tomorrow and let you see them. I'm getting rather excited about the new longbow, I'll have to get some new supplies for making arrows for it.

As in harder to aim and successfully hit a target.

Well, it's harder to hit a spot at a fixed distance with a bow with no sight than a modern bow with a site, stabilisers etc. BUT, modern target bows are not much use at shooting at targets at unknown ranges on a battlefield or in a forest.
Really it just comes down to the different between sighted shooting and instinctive shooting. Like shooting with a sniper rifle or speed shooting with a revolver. One is good for one thing, the other is good for another.
I must say though, people who aren't very good with a modern sighted bow can learn to be quite good - people who are crap at instinctive shooting will never be very good..
