For the most part they are just fullers.

There is a type of Horimono called "Gomabashi" that do have significance though. They are two parallel lines of equal length running under 1/3 of the blades length, usually on one side only.

They represent the metal chopsticks used to sort through the ashes from a cremation and remove the chunks of bone from the fine ash.

Alina, It's ok, you don't have to buy from me. I explained it to Megan my daughter and once she stopped crying she understood why we weren't going to eat this week...

On a slightly more serious note I guarantee my prices for US buyers can't be beaten...

James, I'll ring you and we can chat, there are all sorts of variables to discuss :)

Sorry to hear that Oz... :(

Has she figured out the various "Uncles" mommy brings home yet?

At least that covers the rent.

Of course that would all go away if Alina would just buy a sword from you...

Some I know display fine on NTSC machines (they're meant for the US market) but some of the others may show a compressed image (although they should work fine on a PC).

Will do.

NTSC/PAL doesn't matter, I have equipment for viewing both.

PM me about this, been trying to find something but the store guys are usless!

What would be the lower price on a 1917 cutlass in good shape?

Alina wrote:(Speaking of kilics, I solved the spelling problem. I never knew whether the correct orthography was kilic or kilij. The correct spelling is kilic because in Turkish that final C is pronounced like a j. I think it needs a diacritical mark, but you get the idea.)

Those are easy: press ALT-' and then c (without ALT). Like this: Kiliç. :D

I really liked Dreynschlag's Silly Hatted Club Fighting demo in Dijon. I hope somebody taped it. 8)

alt-c doesn't do that for me because we Americans are all monolingual and have no need of effectively typing in foreign languages.

How about

CTRL-ALT-,

?

Otherwise, look up the standard Windows program "special signs" or whatever it's called in English.

Yes please!

You still have my address I think?

If possible, I'd also like to have the latest schedule of the event for my "scrapbook".

Thanks!

Ah thanks! Colin has already promised to send me a copy of his video once he gets a DVD burner. 8)

Stop hijacking my thread!

It's time for another stupid offer...

This time it is for a differentially hardened bare blade with habaki (brass collar - not shown in photo as not normally included).

In the UK, only £110

In the US $135
