As we've seen he's just made the beautiful Pertinax for Ty - he has made a whole load of other beauties as well.
I guess Gordon might like this:

Does it have a hamon, or is it a trick of the light?
I just love this one.
Nobody makes fantasy swords like John.

That's the one I like as well, very nice. I wonder how much it is though.

The Venetian Sabre has a genuine hamon, as John created the differentially hardened blade before a hilt design had been selected.
With regard to the Sword of St. Catherine, I believe it is John's portfolio sword, meaning that he owns it, and it was never for sale. John is an aficionado of Joan of Arc, so that was a very personal piece...

Why would you put "Defender of the Faith" on a gladius? What faith would that be?
Apollonism?

It's a modern re-interpretation of the Roman gladius, made for someone in the US armed forces prior to being deployed to Iraq. IIRC he intended to carry the sword as a personal defence weapon.

LOL
I was going to say 'Only in America'... but then I realised that he'll probably fit right in to the Middle East!
Pretty sword though.
My great-uncle was a Sergeant-Major in the Royal Engineers in WWII, fighting the Japanese in the jungles of Bhurma. He told me he saw loads of Japanese Officers' swords lying around but he was too busy carrying useful things and staying alove to bother collecting swords.

Well, the Dutch got great use out of their cutlasses (klewang) in the jungles of Indonesia right up to the Indonesian independence. They had a technique which permitted switching very fast between rifle and klewang.
A short sword does seem like a good thing to have when there is zero visibility, as a rifle mounted bayonet is too long and cumbersome.
In Iraq, the situation is a bit different...
