Review: 'Warrior of Rome' series, Harry Sidebottom

First book - Fire in the East

'Ballista', a Roman general of barbarian (Germanic) origin defends the city of Arete from the Persian army.

A fascinating and exciting novel depicting contemporary combat and warfare, with real scholarship -Dr. Sidebottom teaches classical history at Oxford.

Recommended!

I am now on book two, 'Warrior of Rome', which starts in Antioch and gives a real glimpse into life of the time on every level, as well as being a gripping story.
There is a world elsewhere
