Yep, it's a favourite "quick read" of mine being an excellent romp by an interesting fellow.

Even if what Monstery wrote or claims is even only half true then he must have been an amusing fellow to know. Mo. Jeanette Acosta-Martinez has done a lot of research on him and he was very opinionated on all matter fencing judging by the letters to newspapers she has found, especially when it came to demonstrations and tournaments (advocating chalked tips and black over-jackets for foilplay and heavy sticks with hand and head only targets for cane for bouts,for example) often running contrary to the conventions of the era.

He is also one of the very few points of evidence we have for knifeplay being actively taught in American salles- http://bowieknifefightsfighters.blogspo ... -19th.html
