Swords for sale - kat, rapier, Atrim, Hanwei, Schiavona

Postby J Marwood » 05 Sep 2012 11:50

I'm having a bit of a clear out, and have the following for sale. Drop me a line if you'd like photos. I can post, or I'll happily drop them off within a reasonable radius of London, or bring them to a class or whatever. Payment by bank transfer or paypal. If you like something but think the price is off then make me an offer.

Custom Schiavona Sold!. Sharp. This has a hilt from Armour Class and a blad from Tod's Stuff. Comes with a leather scabbard. £250 +P&P
Pictures at https://dl.dropbox.com/u/2297808/Schi.zip. Please note the very small amount of rust on the guard. Should be a doddle to remove.

Armour Class Pappenheimer Rapier - Blunt. This the more robust version they do, and the blade is free from nicks. Comes with a scabbard - £175 +P&P

Cheness banana - Sharp (Very!). I'm not sure of the model, but this was the top of the line they offered when I bought it. It cuts like nothing else. - £200 +P&P
Update from Oz - The Cheness is a "Kaze". Differentially hardened 9260 steel. Officially the RRP is £380 and as Cheness won't supply wholesale outside of the US you'd need to add import duty and VAT to that which makes it closer to £500. £200 is a bloody bargain for an awesome sword.

ATrim Longsword - Sharp, with blued hilt pieces. A great cutter - £150 +P&P

Hanwei Practical hand & a half blunt Sold! - The scabbard is a little dinged from travelling in my kit bag, but it is otherwise fine £50 +P&P

Hanwei practical medieval single hand blunt - Again, it's been used, but is in good nick. £30 +P&P

Hanwei Mortuary hilt blunt - Ditto. Probably the lightest used. £70 +P&P
Picture at http://cl.ly/JEVh

Tim Noyes/Heron Armouries re-enactment messer Sold, subject to payment- Bought this on here a few years back. Very heavy, very robust. A great workout if nothing else! £20 +P&P

These three are probably too long to fit in my car, would need collecting from Bromley (SE London)

Cold Steel Poll Axe - I've cleaned the thick black paint off the head and trimmed down the shaft (Fnnar, fnarr). £50

Historic Arts Poll Axe waster - £40

Historic Arts Walnut QuarterstaffSold! - £30

If the messer is the one i think it is, it's a Tim Noyes/Heron Armouries piece if that helps any.

Hi James
I am up for the Schivona. Have you got better pics though, particularly of the hilt and grip. I'm having drop box issues today  PM me here

It's nice, if I had the money I'd take it myself.

James - I'll nab your q/staff ;)

Could you bring the Hanwei mortuary hilt for a look at when you come up on the 16th? I might take that, too.

If you can't fit the q/staff in the car, I'll find some time when I'm travelling in your direction to collect.

I am not familiar with the Armour Class brand - is it any good, or do they make big heavy clunkers?

It is part of a group of brands that I keep confusing

They make a variety of stuff. Quality is generally very good, but they do need direction if you're commissioning stuff.

This rapier was one I bought from one of the BFHS groups, and it is on the heavy/chunky side, but not being a rapierist I'm not sure if it is too much.

Oke, thanks for the answer.

I just commissioned a new darkwood, and have no spare cash to buy a new rapier, but I have quite a few students who have no weapon yet. However, I don't feel like I can send them off to buy a weapon I am not sure is any good. If someone can confirm whether balance etc on this weapon is ok, I could at least point some people your way.

I'm sure Caz from SotS has an AC Pappenheimer, might be worth getting an opinion from her.

Caz' rapier is very nice, though with the issues over length as per the thread Oz linked to. I have the AC pap and think it's lovely and James has his at a good price.

Thanks for the comments, Martin and Rob.

I will pass the information on to my students, with the caveat that the blade might be somewhat heavy.

I hope one of them will be interested, and, if not, I might be able to buy it in a month or two as a school weapon (if still available by then).

R

EDIT Apologies Martin - thanks for the comments Martin, not James (the above has been corrected)
