For Sale: Old (19thC?) Arab jambiya

Here we have a somewhat battered old Middle Eastern jambiya. It is much the same size and shape as the fancy ones you see being brought back from the Middle East today (Yemen in particular), but this is a genuine old one. From it's condition and form I guess it is 19th century and rather than being a fancy ornate dress piece was obviously once a utilitarian sidearm.

The end of the scabbard is missing, but quite a lot of decoration remains on the leather. The hilt is plain wood and shows no sign of ever being covered in any way. The blade is very slightly loose in the hilt (easy to fix) and is actually the best thing about the piece - it has a strong mid-rib and is satisfyingly broad, with edges that are still pretty sharp.

Yours for £45+P&P
