I still need to post a pic of my new rondel, which I hilted, but all the cameras we have are crap at close-ups. I'll bring it on saturday.
Nigel's bollock knife is going to be gorgeous when it's finished. James has one as well we he put together.

Adequate HT. Handle is cherry tree, fittings (dagger and scabbard) are mild steel.

That looks incredibly good Fab!
I'm going to have to cut my teeth learning scabbard making for my rondel dagger. Your bollock knife scabbard looks sweet!
Today I have been fitting the leather strap that connects the aventail to my bascinet - by fingers are quite sore from stitching all that bloody leather (while holding the mail aventail at the same time.

Sorry I couldn't make it Oz - I felt like crap when I woke up this morning and had loads of stuff to do, so decided to take the morning off and do everything this afternoon. I'd love to visit the forge soon though.

BTW, it may be of interest to some that under UK law you cannot carry a locking knife. However, medieval folders like Fab's above do not mechanically lock, yet cannot fold while you are holding them.. therefore I believe they are UK legal to carry, so long as the blade is under 3". I may be wrong, but I think that's right.

Scabbard making (or any leather working) is not that hard anyway. Good quality leather helps, ans well as quality tools. And patience.

How do you make the lines in the leather - make it wet and then push them in with the end of a stick-type-thing?
And are your chapes and lockets folded around with an open split at the back, or did you braze/solder them solid at the back?

Yep. Though the sharpest ones were cut halfway though.

Open split, yes. Left them not slodered, so that the customer could remove them to color the scabbard if needed.

Here's more stuff (there is even more actually, but I don't want to flood this forum).

As folders seem to be quite appreciated, here are more - finished today (sorry for the image large size) :

Handle is box wood with linseed oil, blades are from the same old file, sorry for the low quality of light (hamon shows better IRL).

Here's more then (nearly a flood proper) :

A roundel dagger (the first I made actually, about two years ago) :

Oak, cemented mild steel (for the blade), and mild steel.

And here's a tiny thingy (I use it to open boxes) :

Old file, box. I kinda like to make these tiny things with scrap bits at the end of the day at the forge.

Here are the results of a summer afternoon with Kurso dropping by and wainting to try out hammering steel a bit. Old rasps. I made the top one.

Now, a skinner kind of thing I made about a year ago, together with the scabbard :

This was a gift for Sarah's bro, our official provider of Mustard during the last Dijon event.
He's currently at a NCO school in Western France, and apparently this knife is a killer when it comes to cutting sausages (or rather French Saucisson).

And last for today (yay!), a Christmas present for Sarah's father. Steel unknown (but spring steel anyway - and the thing does get hard ! ) :

Here is a crappy pic I just took with my phone of my rondel dagger - bought the blade unpolished from Tods Stuff, made the hilt myself - the guard is octagonal, the hilt parts are blued mild steel.
