£30 for a pair puts them on a par with the Warrior gloves, and these look slightly more protective.

Plus it doesn't look like they do a right hander, most field hockey suppliers only do left hand gloves.

Ruddy expensive, though. I'm looking to get another set of gloves, need something to take staves and nylon swords. And affordable, considering that I'll have to double the price to get them down my end...

Worn over a leather glove they seem to offer some potential - a sort of hybrid between Victorian bayonet sparring gloves and a mitten gauntlet.

We have tried these sort of gloves...not bad, but not perfect. The grip is awkward to say the least, however the protection for the hand is sufficient...the wrist meanwhile suffers a bit.

Yes, extremely varied...I believe that they were at least similar to the first image you posted. At the end of the day these are not bad hand protection at all...just a little awkward and with a few gaps.

Speaking to Nick Thomas about the escrimador mittens - he found them to offer good protection for the most part (some gaps at the sides of the thumb), but limited mobility, especially in the wrist and when grabbing/grappling.

For that price I'd wager they'd work alright...mind you the size seems a bit limited.
