For Sale: Valiant Armoury War Sword (UK)

Postby Alex P » 19 Nov 2018 19:55

Good day all,
I am looking to sell my Valiant Armoury War Sword.

Made by Sonny Suttles of Valiant Armoury (USA) in 2015.

Blade geometry: type XIIa.
Pommel: J-type, round, peened, blackened.
Cross-guard: blackened.
Blade: Sharp.
Steel: 1060.
Full length: 114cm
Blade Length: 87cm
Grip: 21 cm
Guard: 19cm
P.O.B.: ~11cm
Weight: 1.3kg
Suspension belt waist sizing: 80-130cm

Been in storage since the day it got imported, never used. Feels very light and nimble for it's size. I should mention that the belt leather is very stiff and will need wearing in. The blackened finish on the pommel didn't turn out as good as the cross-guard.

Only looking to sell within UK, for now, apologies. £495 including mainland UK shipping.

Questions welcome.

Just one question. It's not uncommon that people from the UK prefers to sell within the country and I can't see the reason why. I'm living in Sweden and I have sold swords to the US and bought swords from the US, Spain, Czech republic, Poland and Russia. All without any problem. The only difference from selling within Sweden is the higher shipping cost, but that something that the buyer has to deal with, not I.

Is there some British regulations that makes it more difficult to ship to another country, some form of nationalism or something completely different that makes you reluctant to sell your very fine sword outside the UK?

Personally, I've had some bad experiences with Border Force UK. I've imported a few swords, and on two occasions Border Force has opened the packages for inspection and just held onto them without issuing any kind of notification. I had to contact them and pay a 'handling' fee so that they could be delivered to me. This is why I try and avoid sending swords over the border. However, if you are interested in the sword, I am certain we can work something out.

Thanks for your answer Alex. I do understand. It's a lovely sword but I don't have the funds right now...

I have no problems with sending swords out (maybe sent about 300-400 swords out of the UK), I've never had a single one questioned - in my experience UK Border Force only care about stuff coming in. They don't give a damn what goes out. Ironically, I have only had two swords damaged in transit to another country and both of those were Sweden!!

I like swords more than you.
