Any experience with stainless bucklers from stick4stick?

Postby Mark T » 23 Jun 2012 23:38

Hi all,

Has anyone used the stainless bucklers from stick4stick?

They currently only have a 22 cm diametre listed, but have previously also carried 30 cm. I know their handle is curved, and so not ideal for some buckler plays, but was wondering if they might be able to make one flat.

You can get bucklers that won't need editing to be used for less than that. For example the Cold Steel plastic buckler at £36 +p&p looks a better option to me if you'll be using it with nylons.

The CS buckler works pretty well, the weight is OK, the grip good and the shape is fine for most buckler work. Out of the bag it is worth removing the mold flashing seam as it is very sharp, a few minutes with some abrasive paper sorts it.
Can't really think of a major downside if you are using plastic simulators, the buckler would probably also be fine with wooden wasters too.
