Here we have an 18thC hunting sword. Based on other examples I have seen I believe it to be 1720-1740ish and German. However, 18thC swords are certainly not my forte!
The blade has a dark patina all over and is lightly pitted, but is generally sound. The edge and point are still fairly sharp. The hilt is copper alloy of some sort, more bronze than brass I would say (as it is darker than brass), and has a shell extension to the outside (see photos). It retains some decoration to the pommel and knucklebow. The grip is now almost all bare wood, though it obviously originally was covered in shark skin and some of this remains and is solid on the wood. The whole hilt is a little loose on the tang, though this would be easy to remedy.
