Corsair's Wares now supplying Spes gear

Postby KeithFarrell » 24 Jul 2012 11:35

Corsair's Wares is now the official distributor for "Spes Historical Fencing Gear" in Scotland! Over the next few days we will update our website so that we can start selling the protective gear and padded training swords online. We will also be taking a pile of Spes gear to FightCamp next month. If you are interested in purchasing any of the Spes training swords or protective equipment, please get in touch with us and we will see about adding your items to our initial order.

More updates will be forthcoming as we set up our website to show the Spes gear. For the moment, please feel free to follow us through our Facebook page here:

Thanks Matt. Hopefully this will make it a little easier for all of us to get our hands on this equipment!

I think for FightCamp we might not have too much stock available for immediate sale, but we should have plenty of different bits and pieces at our stall for people to try. Then we can take an order from people once they have had the chance to handle things. Of course, if people place an order with us before FightCamp, then we can bring the stuff with us and deliver it there!

The Spes historical fencing gear is now available through the Corsair's Wares shop at the link below. All items have been marked as "free shipping" within the UK, and include the cost of shipping within the price. If you will be going to FightCamp in August and would like us to bring some Spes gear for you, please get in touch with us through this forum, through our Facebook page or through the shop (or directly with Keith Farrell or Ben Kerr) and we can discount the cost of shipping from the price!

At the moment we are using the images directly from the Spes website (with their kind permission), but as we get some of the items into stock we will begin to replace them with our own photos.

On Monday morning we are going to be placing our initial order with Spes to bring some of this fantastic equipment into the country. Most of what we will be bringing will be "demo" items so that we can show the stuff on our stall at FightCamp, to let people try it on and see how it all fits. We are not planning to buy in too much "stock" for people to buy directly, because we do not yet know what items people want/need or what items will actually sell.

If you *do* want something from Spes and you will be at FightCamp to collect it (or if you don't mind it being posted to you once it arrives with us) then please get in touch with us today or over the weekend. We will be more than happy to help you make a purchase and to buy in your items for you in addition to the "demo" stuff for FightCamp.

If you have any questions about any of these items, please get in touch with us through this forum, through our Facebook page, by email at corsairs-wares@triquetra-services.org, or by contacting Keith Farrell or Ben Kerr directly.

For FightCamp, Corsair's Wares will be bringing the following bits and pieces:

- wooden staffs (useful if you would like to take part in any of the staff lessons!)

- Spes padded swords (useful if you would like to take part in any of the broadsword or sabre lessons!)

- Spes protective equipment (jackets, plastrons, skirt, back-of-head, mask overlays)

- an assortment of bucklers, both round and spiky in good Talhoffer style!

- a selection of sgian dubhs and dirks with handles carved by Ben Kerr

- a few Hanwei basket-hilted broadswords

- some copies of the Obsesseo DVD

- Hanwei sword oil (useful for those of you with a few steel toys...)

- some funky chainmail jewellery made by members of our Academy

- some very cool drinking horns

- tickets to the R.L. Scott conference

Please note that we do not have a lot of the Spes protective gear; we took the last of most of these items off their shelves, and they couldn't actually send us stuff like the forearm guards with attached elbows. The little by way of protective gear that we will be bringing with us is likely to go very quickly (if it has not already gone!) and we are very sorry if we cannot supply you with the jacket you desire at the event.

Spes are working hard to produce more stock, so if you would like to buy something that we do not have available at the event, we can take your order and we will be buying in another large shipment of Spes stock once we return from FightCamp. It may take a little longer to get the stuff to you, but we will endeavour to satisfy whatever orders you would like to place with us.

The best thing to do will be to treat FightCamp as an opportunity to see and handle some of the Spes protective gear, then place an order with us so that we can get the items to you for the end of the month.

We look forward to seeing you all at the event!

Hi Keith, Who makes the Talhoffer ones you're carrying? Hanwei/GDFB or someone else?
