The guy I am bringing with me does longsword and sabre, has recently started rapier. If you do want to do rapier though feel free, I can bring plenty of spares and either fight or train, as you like.

Sounds good. :)
Personally - I wouldn't mind picking up longsword tips from ya; bit of freeplay with you and your guest would be most enjoyable. :)
(I think we'll have spare shinai if Phil can come down (?) but we'll have a few between us anyway shouldnt be a problem.)
That said, I echo Corpsie and as informal as it is, I reckon taking the opportunity to focus on rapier more than usual would be sensible - and I'll definitely join in if there's a spare. :)

:) :) :)

Awesome day guys, thoroughly enjoyed it, so thank you very much, good group of people you have. We will definitely return and in greater numbers! Next time I will bring more rapiers and daggers again, maybe some other kit too, good way to spend a saturday.

It was a really good session. Nick, you're more than welcome to waffle on at me as much as you want. After all the point of these sessions is to learn stuff and you're a clear, straightforward teacher. I've already picked up a quite a few things that will help me with my little project.

I don't say nice things about my brother that often, but I'm really impressed with how fast he's picking everything up. OK, he was a bit of a sports fencer 7+ years ago, but you can't tell that he's only had 2 Saturday sessions of real swordfighting.

Yeah, that was tremendously fun and tremendously informative. Thanks again, Nick, and I hope you can make it out here again soon. A rapier and dagger now feature prominently on my wish list...

Ian, that's no joke about your brother. He and I had a really good time doing longsword.

Thanks guys, it was nice to train with some Fiore people too, not something we get very often at all, glad everyone enjoyed it. I am glad the rapier stuff has helped Ian, many things just click in to place over time as I teach Capo Ferro, making it just clearer and easier all the time.

Next time I will teach you that unfastening of the sword technique where by you strike and bind/disarm the opponent's sword, if you haven't remembered it already, its such a snazzy technique its just got to be done.

You are most welcome, and thank you, thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Definitely do, the more the merrier as they say!

Great day all around - even the weather held out juuust until we were more or less done lol.
I dare say even the various onlookers enjoyed watching, judging from the smiles and interest, so a nice side benefit good for public awareness HEMA as well hopefully.

I might be too fragile to make it next week.

I'm faced with the choice of getting hit by you lot, or going to a club on Friday with the ex (and she'll probably be wearing a corset).

Indeed, and as you say, excellent publicity for HEMA generally. I noticed that one of you was taking pictures whilst we were training, any chance of those pictures being posted online?

@Corpsie: hmm.. the word 'corset' does have something of a balance tipping-effect I grant you!

Still, fragile or not, come along on the Saturday if you can, sans weapons if need be - or better yet get your brother to lug it all down for you - and enjoy sunning yourself while delivering suitably acerbic comments/helpful suggestions whilst us lot hit each other.. :D

@Nikos: yes, hopefully he's got some got shots he feels happy enough with to put online...

It's possible, but the likelihood is that I'll be getting back home at 4am, that gives me less than 10 hours before I should be back in Camden. I'm just not that hardcore anymore.

I may see if I can meet up with Paul and loan him my stuff for the day.

Yes. After 5 years, I think she's earned the definitive. But you get the idea- it's your ugly mugs as I get hit with sticks or dancing with her in a corset.

Ah well. I'd choose the same option aswell.

What's the club night then? Anything new/special or just the usual clubs.
Angua: Don't worry, we won't need weapons.
Cheery: Oh, good.
Angua: They wouldn't be any use.

Why is it that people assume an attractive young lady is into kinky sex just because she wears a corset?

Anyway, she enjoyed spectating when she was down last time so she may come along to watch and act as water bearer. It's just hangover/tiredness dependent.
