Baumann Collection, Reichsstadt-Museum Rothenburg

Postby Monzambano » 15 Jun 2014 19:32

Just looked into the Baumann-Collection of medieval and renaissance blades and other weapons at the Reichsstadt-Museum in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Rothenburg is anyway famous for its preserved medieval fortifications, but it's been a while since I was there and I'd never seen this collection.

Clearly, the Hofburg, the Wallace, the Armouries have more spectacular pieces; but in terms of the sheer range of objects, visibly presented and clearly marked, this is a museum worth the visit.

I also liked the fact that they illustrated weapons usage with pictures from Meyer, Marozzo etc.
