Spanish Sabre question

Postby tabiris » 04 Jun 2012 12:58

Hello all!

I have a question about the (Spanish, preferably) military sabres, for instance the M1907 and M1908 trooper's swords. I'm mostly interested in the point of balance. Also, was there a difference between cavalry and footsoldier's sabres in terms of weight and PoB? If anyone has info on infantry officer's swords, such as the 1897 pattern, it'd be most appreciated!

Thank you!

All standard British infantry officer's swords from the 1822, through 1827, 1845, 1854, to 1892 and 1897 weigh almost exactly 2lbs (900g), have 32.5-33 inch (83-84cm) blades and PoB varies between examples, but is often around 4.5 inches (11.5cm) from the guard. Cavalry versions tend to weigh half a pound more, balance generally about the same point and are usually 2-3 inches longer in the blade.
