Ultima parola sulla risorta questione Angelini-Masiello...

Gents,

Have any of you ever looked at: Ultima parola sulla risorta questione Angelini-Masiello intorno alla scherma della sciabola del defunto Maestro Radaelli, by Achielle Angelini, published by C. Voghera in 1888. It is 21 pages long, and supposedly the BNL St. Pancras Reading Rooms holds a copy.

It is, as the title indicates, supposed to be the final response in a series of communications between Gen. Angelini and Maestro Masiello, concerning the sabre fencing of the late Maestro Radaelli.

Any idea what getting a copy of it would take? I'd just pop on by and have a look myself, but 8600mi round trip is a bit much.

thanks,
Chris

I have a photocopy- send me an address and I'll post it you. Might be able to scan it but I'm not certain of the copyright issues.

Hi Phil,

Replied via pm. Looking forward to this. I strongly suspect its going to provide a lot of background information on the development of Radaellian sabre.

I'm sure I'll wish I'd had it when I was writing the book.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Phil,

It arrived today. I've given it a quick look over. I do think there are some interesting tidbits in it. This document is Lt. Gen. Angelini's response to the accusations that Maestro Masiello levels at him, Paolo Fambi, the Commission that chose Parise's book, and pretty much everyone else associated with that, who Masiello didn't care for.

As an op-ed piece, it is of questionable value, to me, but as a window into the past of the system I teach, it is priceless, even in its disagreement, since there are a bunch of good historical tidbits in it.

Thanks again,

Chris

Glad I could help- even if I do feel dirty for touching a text on the Italian school of fencing instead of honest, wholesome French methods ;-)
