I've got a question.

Does catch wrestling exclude chokes because they are perceived as dangerous, or is it just cheating to make your opponent unconscious, where a real wrestler should make them quit in agony in a proper manly way? Or is a grovit just more fun?

Does catch count shoulders on the ground as a loss, where BJJ thinks it's a good place hang around because lying on the floor is a bad place to be in a real fight? how does that relate to pugilism where just being off your feet stops the fight

More seriously, what do the rulesets in different unarmed styles say about their social context and whether they were seen just as sport or as training/skilltesting for a real combat of some type.

Some nice questions there, thanks Dave. I'll put them to one of the guests we've got lined up soon.
