We would have been dispatching this week if it hadn't been for the factory closing as so many of their employees took the 3 days off between the Bank Holidays  So we are booked in for production early next week.

Does this mean you'll have any for sale in France? 8) 8) 8)

We had planned to - it's going to be tight now though...

Fingers crossed. Not being able to take steel weapons on the Eurostar means we're all travelling with nylons only.

New Knight Shop Sparring Swords

Postby knirirr » 20 May 2011 07:47

I'm wondering about the status of the basket hilt swords again - is there any news on delivery time for those pre-orders?

Very sorry for the lack of updates on this - we have been getting the run-around from the factory again. They keep missing their deadlines with a series of quite pathetic excuses. We had a meeting with the directors there on Friday and they have now given us a "guaranteed" production date of 1st June.

It does seem to be the curse of the pre-order. The extended pommels which we did not put on pre-order were ready before we expected them although, to be fair, it is a much less complicated part.

Thanks for your patience chaps - will be using yet another toolmaker for future moulds!

Hi John

Had our first production batch ready for Dijon. The new material proved too tough for the jigs we use to stop them from warping after moulding. As such they all had a slight curve to them towards the tip. We are just looking for a stronger jig so we can sell them straight.

The ones left from the Dijon batch will go on sale on our site shortly at the discounted Dijon rate.

Hello Chats

I am elated that I can finally say that the Basket Hilts are now ready :D

I am really very sorry about all of the delays - we have gone through 4 toolmakers of the last year, all of which seem to have a problem with time frames and deadlines..

All of the early back orders are being dealt with today so people should start receiving their orders tomorrow. The next batch is due from the factory next Thursday and this will clear all back orders and we will have them in stock from this point onwards.

Hey Bryan,

A while ago, you said that long pommels for the longswords would be available at the same time as the basket-hilts. Is there any word about those?

Alex, I can answer that question - the long pommels have been available since before Dijon; they were being sold there and we have a few in our group. I have no idea why they aren't on the Knight Shop website, but they are out there.

They rushed the mould to get some samples ready for Dijon. As such there is a 1mm gap at the base of the pommel where it meets the tang. Has no structural relevance but people in Dijon didn't like it and I want it corrected before we launch.
