Kurtze iedoch Deutliche Beschreibung handlen - Pascha - 1661

"Kurtze iedoch Deutliche Beschreibung handlend von Fechten auff den Stosz und Hieb" - Short though clear description of Fencing on the Thrust and Cut.

This treatises from 1661 is usually ascribed to Johann Georg Pascha, though his name does not occur anywhere in it. Johan Georg Flach is named on the title page.

At a cursory glance the text appears to be the same as that in Pascha's 1666 and 1673 treatises (both titled “Vollständiges Fecht Ringe und Voltigierbuch”), though it is somewhat different from the text in his 1659 “Kurtze Unterrichtung Belangend Die Pique, die Fahne, den Jägerstock, das Voltesiren, das Ringen, das Fechten auff den Stoß und Hieb, und endlich das Trinciren”. The number of plates contained in R4A668 is smaller, and while they are similar in style, they are different from those in his 1666 and 1673 works.

I have translated the 1661 edition of Paschen’s “Short though clear description treating of fencing on the thrust and cut”. This translation, which includes some comparison with the 1666 edition, is now available as a free download here http://www.bruchius.com/docs/Paschen%201661%20translation%20by%20RvN.pdf.

Alternatively, you can buy it as a book (combined with Henning and including the plates) here: http://www.lulu.com/shop/reinier-van-noort/fencing-on-the-thrust-and-cut/paperback/product-21757398.html#, which includes the same translation and comparison, but also includes the plates of the 1661 edition (which I already made available for free on my website), and further contains my translation of Henning’s 1658
treatise “Short though thorough Instruction in Cut-fencing” (also already available online).
