Postby Bob D » 28 May 2012 01:56

For the slightly more Antipodean members of the forum Swordplay is on again this year. The program consists of a workshop on Spanish Swordplay by Puck Curtis, the skill at arms tournament and plenty of opportunity to cross blades in a relaxed social setting.

7th - 9th of September
Baden Powell Scout Park, Samford.

Cost:
$40 per day participants (this rises to $60.00 if you wish to register on the day)
$20 per day for SP12 Officials
Spectators free (from lunchtime onwards on any day)

Onsite accomodation is availiable.

Available below is an introductionary video illustrating the tournament format as part of this year's Skill-at-Arms. This video is designed to give competitors a visual guide to what to expect and supports (but does not replace) the official Skill-at-Arms documents. It is requested that competitors watch this video after reading other Skill-at-Arms documents.

This video was shot unrehearsed and there may be minor errors in content, however the video as a whole gives a good indication as to safety, weaponry and the format in force for each tournament. Any points of confusion please in the first instance check the Skill-at-Arms document.

The safety, weaponry and format as indicated in the video has evolved over the last 3 years of intra-school competition and has proven to be robust. In short the only changes are (1) the establishment of a Sword Tournament (2) the establishment of a 'first to 5 points or 4 minute' whichever comes first and (3) pending number of competitors we'll try and generate a 3 x bouts for all competitors for all rounds with winning 2 out of 3 bouts the requirement to advance forward.
